Do I have to be over 18?
What’s the deal with pre-order tickets?
I’ve tried to make this competition really easy for everyone by offering “pre-order” tickets. When all the tickets are sold, I will send the buyer of each pre-order ticket an invoice and then I will release the tickets. I think that’s fair.
In return, I’m just asking one massive favour from everyone who has entered. I’m sending you all a unique reference link which can be shared with your friends and family on a social media platform of your choice. This helps to spread the word about the competition and increases the amount we are able to raise for charity.
Can I buy the house if this fails?
Joking aside, if you ever want to sell a house, just put up a website trying to raffle it and you will get offers. I think I’ve had around 10 or 12 offers to buy the house. I don’t know if that’s a test of my resilience or not, but the answer has always been no and it will remain no.
The reason why is that it is far more important to me to fulfill a person’s dreams of home ownership while making a donation to charity -- something I could not achieve by simply selling the house. The purpose of this competition is to make a difference in people’s lives and give generously to charity.
What happens if someone makes a bid for the house during the competition?
The house is no longer for sale, it is only available in the competition. Any offers for the property will be rejected.
How will the prize will be drawn?
Drawn using a random number generating algorithm and is therefore completely secure and random.
When will the winner be notified?
We will attempt to notify the winner the evening of the live draw and make arrangements for transfer directly with them.
If I don’t win the house, are there any other prizes?
Why, yes! I’m also giving monetary prizes for the top 3 referrals. The three individuals who refer the most additional entrants using their unique reference link will win prizes in the amounts of £5,000, £3,000 and £1,000 respectively. They will also be invited to the raffle event at The Cinnamon Club in London on 20th December. (To be quite candid, the referrals are less than one hundred at present. So, to get to the live event through this route isn’t too difficult to be honest).
Can the winner sell the property?
Yes, the property will be legally theirs, so they can do what they please with it.
Will the winner have to pay stamp duty or a mortgage?
Is the property leasehold or freehold?
What happens if my answer is incorrect?
Only correct answers will be entered into the competition.
Can I enter if I live outside of the UK?
Yes. You do not have to live in the UK to enter.
Why is this house being given away; is something wrong with it?
There is nothing wrong with this house, it is being given away as I no longer have a use for it.
Who owns this house?
The house is currently owned by me, Phil Leckie. I’m originally from a small village called Chapelhall, which is very close to Airdrie, where the house is located. I have been living in Singapore for the last seven years with my wife Rhea and our now three-year-old son, Raphael.
What is the Live Event Leaderboard?
The Live Event Leaderboard page on our website is updated regularly showing the top 25 ticket holders in alphabetical order. For security reasons, I will only show the ticket holder's first name and their country/region. The same goes for the top 5 people making referrals. At present, tickets have been sold across over 30 countries worldwide, which still amazes me to be honest.
